Provenance: Private Collection
Knights submitted this small oil painting of her mother, Mabel, for the
first round of the Rome Scholarship Competition. The haystack was a
motif that would appear frequently in Knights' work; a collaboration
between nature and mankind in a temporal cycle, it was a powerful symbol
of regeneration and harmony.
