Provenance: Private Collection


A Royal Academician, A.K. Lawrence produced a series of images in pastel, charcoal and watercolour portraying pilots, and aircraft including a Spitfire and a Hurricane. These were used to illustrate 'Cloud Cover', an RAF account of with various operational bomber and fighter squadrons throughout the war.

A similar watercolour depicting Flight Lieutenant Mayners, DFC, can be seen in the collection of the RAF Museum.
